About to purchase this year and length of Sundeck, and keep searching the “net”, for comments about this particular model year, but coming up short on information. My wife and I checked out a 2004 240 Sundeck yesterday. Really nice boat, not as nice looking in pictures, but in good shape for year of boat. Motor started right up, and seemed to have no apparent problems. One thing about that boat, that thing was HUGE, and that comment is coming from a farmer that is used to driving or hauling big equipment down the road. . Plenty of seating, very spacious. We didn’t make the owner an offer, as we wanted to think about it a bit, 30 min later when we did make the offer, it was sold.
Anyway, I had done enough reading on the 240 model I was satisfied we would have been happy with the purchase, unfortunately didn’t happen. I’ve really thought a 210-220 would actually be ideal for me, but not too many of them available, and if available, not old enough to be in my price range. Yesterday, I stumbled upon this 2001 Sundeck 190, liked the looks of it, but know we are losing a lot of deck space compared to the 240. I’m also assuming the larger 240 would take the rough waves better than the 190, due to its larger length and weight. Has Sea Ray made major hull design changes between the 190’s and 240’s? I’m sure there have been some hull improvements from the early 2000 Sundeck as opposed to 2005-2008, but can’t seem to find any of tha info either, even on this site.
My wife likes the “cleanliness” of this little 190, and stated we could always use it for a year or so, and if needed upgrade to a larger size. Makes sense. I just don’t want to suffer “buyers remorse”, especially if I’m beat to death traveling over rough waves. For what it’s worth, we only frequent smaller local lakes in our area. Any comments are sure welcomed,
Thanks
Jim
