Hello, new to the forum. just bought a 2007 27' searay amberjack. single 6.2 merc w/ double prop. Finally got to really run it full speed yesterday and was kind of horrified at the performance. It was a lot of work to run. I've had a 23' outboard for 15 years and expected a big adjustment, but at times felt unsafe. Serious listing at times under full power to the point it would start turning. Seemed to go both ways. I know the boat won't flip, but with little kids on board, it was pretty scary. My hands are tired from working the trim and tabs. Flat calm day on the ocean and it seemed to happen randomly, no wave or gust of wind. I know i need to get a little better with the trim tabs (they seem to be opposite of my last boat), but this can't be right. I ran it for over an hour to stellwagen and back and never once felt comfortable or in real control. I read several older threads and it seems this is not uncommon since 2006+/- when they redesigned the hull. It sounds ike i'm not alone, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I believe this is the same hull as the 26' sundancer. Has anyone experienced these problems and found a solution? other than distributing weight on the boat? Just bought it and have no desire to run it again with kids other than low speed putting around (which is also hard to keep a straight line), which is not what i bought if for. very discouraged. Thanks for any input!
