Hello everyone. I just recently purchased a 2007 240 Dancer and the cockpit speakers are not working (they weren’t when I purchased which helped in negotiations.) The first thing I did was purchase a new Kenwood marine head-unit and had a local stereo store install. The cockpit already had 2 upgraded Polk Audio speakers/tweeter and a 10” subwoofer installed. I was hoping the new head unit would do the trick, but no luck. The installer searched for 2 hours pulling apart panels looking for the speaker amp but no luck. Where is the speaker amp located? Is there an “easy” switch button? Main breaker “stereo” was on. Speakers in the cabin work just fine. I’ve seen threads for larger Sundancer’s but not for the 240. Thank you for any help.

On my 280 starboard EIM switch panel there is a speaker mute button. Not sure if this is the same on your boat, if you want I can scan the picture on the EIM later today. Also when we looked at a couple of 280's they had an amplifier under the cockpit sink. Additionally we have a locker in the portside aft cabin and there is a radio 'device" with fuses there. Again all 280 related but maybe some of this info applies to your boat.

Thanks for the info Cap. I do not have a speaker mute button on the EIM Panel. There is a Panel under the cockpit sink (next to battery switch) but none of the switches involve the speakers. At least from what ive seen. I did not see an amp under the sink. I was reviewing the OM for the boat and came across a drawing (attached) of a possible spot, but not completely understanding where this is located within the vessel. I will have to check cabin cabinets again for the radio "device" fuse. Specifically, from the drawing, I am looking to find where the "stereo amp breaker" is located or the "premium cockpit stereo component board."

Good news. Found the amp behind a panel on the starbird side of the aft cabin. Also, found that one cockpit speaker was bad and the other does not have power. Replaced the bad speaker and the cockpit has sound now.
