Help my boat let me down for the first time. Took the boat out for the first time in over a year and all seemed well until I go to throttle up, alarm goes off. I initially thought maybe it was oil reservoir but it was good. Next time I pulled out my phone and Vessel View and read the code ;2011-23 A particular state or condition exists.

Background: Boat has been in storage( my garage) for probably 1.5 years. In that time I have pulled it out and run it on ear muffs to circulate oils, etc and never had an issue, it always starts right up. I initially thought it might be bad gas or water but after pulling the fuel filter I’m not so sure. Gas looked good and clean and no water separated out.

I idled around for at least 30 minutes trying to throttle up and burn some fuel hoping it was maybe just something stuck , glug of bad gas etc but no go. It idled fine and temps and oil pressure were all good. I run ethanol free fuel and typically keep some stabil in the tank.

Where to go from here? Check fuel pressure on rail? Empty tank and put new fuel in( total pain as the tank is full).

I don't use the code app... but was there not another screen that gave more specific info?

You could take it to a Merc dealer to scan it and see the actual conditions and fault that caused it to go into alarm.

A good guess would be a failing impeller. Pull the lower unit off and check it out.

Why would you suspect the impeller? It was replaced maybe 2 years ago and has been fine. There were no temperature alarms and the temp gage was less than 175. Are there any sensors on water pressure? If not I don’t see how impeller would be related.

Well, based on your first post, there was no extra information provided as to maintenance history and gauge readouts. Impeller and/or housing is a common fail point (just being new doesn't negate it). But, if you want to know for sure what's going on, get is scanned. Otherwise, it's just guessing based on limited info.

Code said temp sensor exhaust manifold high temp. That's what I found

Exhaust manifold coolant temp keeps coming up it is in gardian mode

This boat has emission controls correct? If you did a lot of starts without running hard making heat that may have been a contributing factor.

New information, kept digging in the app and found an initial code thrown; 2061-23. Low engine water pressure.

Initial research says it could be the pressure sensor which is fairly common to fail. Or the impeller , again it would surprise me as the impeller is only a few years old and was replaced in 2021 and probably only has 20 hours on it.

Going to pull the pressure sensor and see what it looks like see if it is gummed up. Not sure how to test the sensor.

Yep, sometimes sand or salt will F with them.

But that wasn't the original code he had I thought it was a 21 or something like that cuz I looked it up

2011-23 look that code up and see what it says
