2023 slip rates

I’m 4 hours from my boat….. no choice the puddles in Indiana are too small :(

I'm 3.5 hours from my boat. My only other real choices are river boating (nope) and the biggest party lake in America (voted in Boating mag) where it seems like there are alcohol related fatalities every weekend - Lake of the Ozarks (LOTO). Every other boat on LOTO is some kind of off shore boat or 60' cruiser. If your boat is less than 35', you don't want to go out on a weekend. The upside is there is a bar or two in every cove.

So we drive the 3.5 hours to our relatively tranquil lake in Southwest Missouri.

Reefpoint is $4100 plus tax... so pretty similar...
Yeah, just think if they went a few hundred lower than the nearby marinas -- they would fill the place up. On second thought, forget that. :)

You guys are just getting bills now…… my marina likes us to pay right at Christmas

My Safe Harbor requires a 1K deposit along with signed contract by the previous Oct. 31st. For the now April 1st. All balances must be paid by Feb. 28th. Without the oct. 31st deposit they WILL rent your slip out from under you. Talk about screwing your clients. I mean what if you want to change to somewhere else over the winter, your out a grad. from that perspective SH sucks!.

Well as housing cools off and the toy market corrects this will blow up on them.

that’s why they get the deposit so they can’t lose. Questionable business practice that would have me looking elsewhere.

I remember during the early 2000s until the crash marinas where I lived were doing the same thing then many suffered and went broke after 2008. The free money/low rates are gone and not car/boat dealers will feel the demand drop off. Anyone who bought a bought last couple years paid peak money.

We dry rack and it’s 7200/year and we pay monthly. There are showers and they have a service department but no amenities beyond that.

Tempting to go smaller to something more trailerable when you look at these costs but you get used to the ride/comfort of the DA.

And why I bought a slip that has more stable condo fees. Less then $3K/yr for a 60' covered slip. Having to pony up and commit to something six months in advance is crazy and unfair to people.

Not quite when it comes to marina and lakeshore development. All kinds of hoops to jump thru which restricts supply.

My marina is half empty. True Capitalism would suggest the price would go down, not up every year like it has.
It is still capitalism, but operating within the constraints of regulations imposed by local, state and federal governments. Regulations serve a purpose but governments frequently take them too far and distort markets. The owners of your marina are doing what they can to maximize what they see as their self interests. It could be at half full with high prices they are achieving a business goal that you do not understand. Maybe they are just keeping the business going at breakeven or better while they pursue a development plan to be disclosed at a future date. Or maybe they are achieving their financial goals with the status quo. Whatever, rest assured they are looking after their self interest.

Not really... The marina was run by the state for years. Sucked all the money out and never made improvements. Bathrooms were pits, docks needed replacement boards, issues with the power pedestals... and more. Once there was a waiting list to get in here. People left in droves for Kenosha and Racine when things went down and prices remained high. They were the smart ones. Offered discounts to lure people away.
Several years ago the state got out of the marina business and a private contractor started running it and making improvements. They were bought out by Suntex... And Skipper Buds was bought out by Marine Max...

A correction to my post last week…
I mentioned the labor to replace my outdrive $2000.
So i went to pay the bill today. Turns out the labor was only $500, not 2000.
Total bill was 2000 and I already paid 1500 when the outdrive was ordered. I’m happy. Reconditioned the upper, new lower, anodes, lube, labor for 2k.
Not bad at all. Basically a new Bravo with 3 year no-fault warranty.
Great mechanics. Very happy.

Oh, so I was right.

We always got a 25% discount if we paid for the whole year in advance. We always have, which we did in December. Then the owners sent out an email in January saying they were cancelling the discount and in March we have to pay the 25% on top of what we paid already. Next year I will pay monthly since we don't get a discount for prepaying.

I gotta say, never had, wanted, or will have twins. I cant imagine how yall with twins deal with the expense. One engine/outdrive is enough.

Inboards are the way to go. But to your point, twin outdrives are twice the trouble.

Ouch

I'd seriously consider joining a nice local country club if I were you.... ;)
I tried that…… I literally can’t handle snotty people….. some yacht clubs are like that too that I have belonged to…… I quit as soon as I can….. I’m happy now with the Lakefront Yacht club and Put In Bay yacht club….. normal people

Yeow! That's $2840 per month for the five months. Then also have the dry storage costs in the winter months. Must be a 5 star marina..... Around here we are pretty much by slip size rather than boat size - for a 50 foot slip annual contract it's $780 per month plus electricity which is around $70 per month (for my boat). But then again, RI has quite a bit of parasitic costs compared to Fl.

Pretty much same here. You pay by the slip size. 16'x60' under cover, 12' wide dock, and 20'x12' patio overlooking the lake has risen to $8767/year, plus electric, water($5/month), and dock box. Total of 21% increase between this year and last. Premium dock no doubt. Emailed the office to inquire and was quickly told you are on a premium dock with a waiting list that is 20 deep. Demand is driving this and since Covid, demand here is out the roof.
