2024 Bahamas Trips for all

I might be missing something, but being in Ohio, why would I go to the Bahamas in June and July? Why not January or February?

And the all-important wind direction. It's not reasonable to make that crossing with general winds out of the north. In January/February the winds generally are from the north and the waves build quite significantly.
We typically cross to either West End or Walkers Cae if going to the Abaco and even in May have seen 5 to 6ers.
Not worth the ride in early months.

Where at in Marblehead Ohio? I have a slip in Lakevue Marina. I've traveled and dove most of the lake

Yes we are. We should all get a docktail sometime this summer.

@ocgrant - Grant when are you heading over? I just finished the Click2Clear quagmire for a quick trip over May 2nd. West End then up through the Abaco. Fuel at West End is $5.20 incl VAT which is the cheapest in a long time. I was going to go into Walkers Cay but fuel is $7.45 there making the longer distance to West End well worth the savings - around $500....

Going to do Bimini sometime in June and the my big trip I am leaving July 5th

How much fuel do you need for the crossing? The SPX 210 has a 40 gallon tank. Could you do it in a SPX 210 with calm enough seas?

Sure to Bimini no problem that is 50 miles

Ooooh. Well now. Now I really need a passport.
And some calm seas in a 21 foot boat. June / July there should be a window for that.

Looks it should calm back down for you to have nice cross over. Please grace us with a post trip report to get the rest of us amped up. I am planning for end of July/ early August. I see they just opened Man-O-War Village Marina so that might be a stop for me. And hopefully add a Bimini run in sometime. Fuel stop was 3.89 here this week... getting better, for now.

It looks that way - We'll leave Cape Canaveral and sweep southerly to about Sebastian Inlet staying west of the gulf stream then curve in towards West End. Or if really flat go straight in to White Sand Ridge / Lily Bank south of Walkers then by Mangrove Cay and into West End. If waves are up then we will go south in the intercoastal to Ft Pierce and cut out there. Options....
