270 Sundancer 1991
Engines
350 Mercruiser w/ Bravo II Drive
Hey guys, I'm new here!
I bought a 1991 270 sundancer with no engin/outdrive.
I was thinking of pulling a 350 w/ Bravo II out of my 89 Peterborough and drop in the dancer(to replace an original 454)...

Any comments or experience shared would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

My parents had an 88 270 with a 350/alpha and the thing was a dog. Could barely plane with more than a few, you really need the torque of a big block or at least a stroked SBC I think.

there are some significant differences between an engine fitted for auto vs marine use. Different cam shafts etc. I'll let others chime in on the differences and changes needed. I will confirm that even with a 454 in those boats they were slow and tough to get moving. It is a lot of boat for a single engine. You'll need all the power you can get to get out of the hole.

I have a 25 foot crowline with a 350 in it and it is underpowered. Go bigger so you dont beat the engine up at a good cruising speed. Gas consumption wont change much if at all because the engine wont be working as hard. Dont mate the bigger engine to an alpha drive however they are not made to take that kind of power.
