420 DA Thread

I assume you're speaking about the seat backs? Lift up and remove the bottom cushion and you'll see tabs sticking out from under the bottom of the seat back cushion. Remove the screws and lift the cushion straight up.
@Captsteve427 - THANKS!!! Wasn't expecting it to be that simple - but just went back out there and got on my knees ... it is! THANKS!!!

I would love to do that. And, I'm sure it is no big deal. But, it's probably out of my league! I'm a good learner but I would need you to show me the way before I try that as a first timer on my precious strainer caps! Also, are those Perko sea strainers brand new? Shiney!!

Not new, just reconditioned.
If I remember correctly, the model number of the strainers are stamped on the corner of the strainer housing.

Hynespa, what exactly are you doing to your seat cushion?
Hey @brewster16 The threads have come apart in several locations now due to sun and weather damage - so I'm going to get quotes to have them re-upholstered.

In January 2021 I followed the steps in this post to fix where it unraveled - and that bought me a couple more years with the upholstery ... but now it's coming apart in multiple places - so think it's time:

Will you please let me know how things go with quotes etc? I'm probably going to to do the same.

Thanks,
Bob

You can buy them from Seaboard Marine all ready made up.

Hi All....I just want to let you know I had a complete cooling system service done on both mains and the genny. I posted the details, prices and pics in the 48DA forum if anyone is interested.

Hi everyone, we just sold our 400 bridge this week. We are looking at the 420’s. I started reading this forum but none of the pictures are coming up. Any thoughts? Also, is anybody selling here on the forum? We are in the upper Chesapeake. Thanks, Greg

Congrats on the sale. I have my 44DA posted in the classifieds section of this site, but am out of town and can’t update the expired Boatrader link from my phone.
Here’s the Craigslist ad that it’s currently listed on:

Captsteve, great looking boat. Just a bit above my budget. Good luck with the sale. Greg

Have any 420/44da owners ever add AC vents to the backrest of their companion helm seat, as seen in the below photo?
It’s a grainy photo, but it appears that the owner drilled into the hollow of the backrest and tied into the AC unit below to supply a flow of air directly into the cockpit seating area.
I saw a 420 for sale the other day that had a few vents across the top of the seat back that were the same size as the ones at the helm and am trying to find the listing again.

Here it is. It was on an 06 40DA which appears to have a flatter surface on the seat back and may not have the Sea Ray logo centered on top.
I don’t know about you guys that run your cockpit AC, but the one vent on the starboard side that is supposed to be for the cockpit occupants does nothing, especially if you have a factory mounted TV located in front of it like I do.
