Has anyone removed or gained good access to the washer dryer? I removed the fridge and can get limited access. But I cannot believe it can't be slid out the front.

Russ you can remove the washer out the front by removing the couch in the aft cabin. You can get it out enough to get the top off without removing the couch. What is your issue??

Thanks Ron

Ron, I'm not sure yet. I removed the stop in front and the two screws on the mounting board but it would not budge. Am I missing something? I do want to check to see if it's vented and the vent is clean. But I am having a problem, I think. When drying the drum does not turn. It did once but it usually does not, makes a cycling noise and heats up but does not spin.

I originally thought I had a leak. I seem to go through water quickly and the center under floor storage area gets wet in the salon. Also when the washer drains I hear the bilge alarm sometimes. However while I was behind the fridge I looked in behind and saw no evidence of a leak except I did notice the back bottom edge of the water heater looked wet. Now I will have to check that too.

Hey Russ, Big Ron is right, if you want to to get the washer/dryer out you need to remove the aft couch. Sound's like you have a couple other issues that I've had over the past few year's. You say that your water heater is leaking and more than likley the water is ending up in your aft sump pit behind your aft cabin couch triggering the alarm you are hearing. As for your under floor storage area, grab a flashlight and some paper towel and check all the fitting's, I can almost guarantee you'll find one leaking. There are a lot of water line's there. Most of them are 15mm or 22mm, google sea tech or flounder pounder and you should find what you need to replace them. I've also had issues with my sump pit under the floor and I'm going to try the combo rule mate bildge/float pump and see how that work's. My float stick's about once a month and over flows into the same aft pit I was talking about earlier, a real PIA to clean up, good luck, Paul

Thanks Paul, yes I have experienced the float switch in the central drain pit sticking and overflowing, a big PIA. Let me know how you make out with the Rule, I have never seen one that big as a replacement.

Russ I had the same problem the first time taking the washer out I found that the hoses were tied down with no slack. I had to drill a 6 inch hole inside the aft cabin tv cabinet and cover with an inspection plate. You can then get in and cut a few ties which tie down the hoses. I ended up extending the hot and cold for easy removal in the future. Hopefully Petep will chime in Pete and Pam are the certified washer experts in our area. The washer was installed at the factory before the deck was assembled it was easy for the factory to tie everything down. They were not thinking about removal 10 years later.

Thanks, that would be great this WD really perplexes me. I am determined to make it work as it should.

How do you guys service / clean your raw water intakes and rear bilge area when there is a ISO Boost transformer fitted in front of the Generator.

At 220lbs and 6' 3" there is no way I can fit in there and get the regular jobs done.

Any ideas gratefully accepted

Graham

Interesting, I don't have the transformer- anyone?
Post pics?

Another question. Does anyone have cockpit air conditioner? Mine drains into the rear part of the bilge. Just got boat last fall and now using ac. I have always had a dry bilge area and could always notice any leak but now condensation drains into bilge. Has anyone diverted drain elsewhere?

Thanks for any help, John

Graham,
Fortunately I can fit under that wooden table support, but it's tight. The strainers are no problem because the table is cut out at the sides to allow access to the top of those Groco units. I was thinking of having a custom stainless support made so it can be bolted further outboard on each side along the forward edge. Keep the same plywood support beneath and then remove the wood legs. It is awkward to get at those shut-offs with that ISO boost unit. You still have to negotiate between the strainers though even with a wider table support to access the valves. Ibuprofen helps.

John,
My cockpit A/C drains into the bilge area ahead of the washdown spigot. I assume yours drains there as well? I agree that it's nice to have a dry bilge and I have thought of a) installing a small sump box (a smaller version of our main sump) to handle the condensate run-off; b) running the drain to the forward main sump, but that's a complex route ; or c) run the drain into that high floor drain around the access hatch if you can get a downward flow. Just some ideas. For now I just let that bilge pump handle it with a good check valve in line.

Graham-
Don't you have two ISO Transformers? I have one in my 2003 mounted forward of the gennie and the strainers are mounted on the inside of the stringers towards the centerline, but outside of the metal framework of the Isotransformer Base. James, is your bast made of marine plywood? Graham, if you can't get your strainer key to turn the caps then heat them up with a heat gun and then place a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the threads before reinstalling. When I cleaned my filters for the first time it was a ***** of a time getting the caps off.

Has anyone relaced their cockpit speakers? I'm getting ready to do a swap to 7.7" JLs including Sub and Amp this weekend. I know I will need to do some cutting of the fiberglass to enlearge the hole, but am hoping I have the depth on the arch for these speakers to fit without spacers. Any help would be appreciated.

Carpetmman and Jaws, thanks to you both for your answers

I do have two ISO Transformers, the one mounted in front of the Westerbeke, the second one is mounted in front of the starboard motor, causing real difficulty when it comes to changing the Starboard fuel filer elements.

The next issue, what is the Strainer key that you refer to, I don't have one, where do I get it from and what does it look like.

Thanks for the help so far, I think i will make the ISO support shelf removeable.

Graham-
I thought that Sea Ray mounted these transformers in series in front of the gennie-good thing I was wrong! I would be interested to see your set-up since mine is easily accessible. My transformer is bolted to the platform with 4 bolts. I heard these are really heavy units, so not sure how easily it will be to move....

Here is the key I was mentioning:

Good luck!

Graham-
James, is your bast made of marine plywood?

Stuart,
The base is marine plywood painted grey but the legs are wood also 2X3 if memory is correct, and corner-braced. Not an elegant set-up and one which could be modified with stainless supports, made wider of course.
James

Sorry Russ, don'thave pictures and boat is 1,000 miles away.

I will be there in two weeks and will take some more Pics.

Stuart..... I would love to see a picture of the new style mount, I suspect it is what I need to make.

Graham

Now I need to find the stools ("ottomans" as Sea Ray calls them) for an '03 460DA.

I need the small one for the vanity and the larger ones for the salon table. Sea Ray still makes the ottomans and I will get a price through a dealer (only way to buy I'm told)

Any ideas on finding these anywhere else?
