Last weekend, starboard side engine took a couple of clicks of the key before the starter engaged. It spun like crazy just the bendix never kicked out to engage the disk
The solenoid does not appear to be available on its own anymore and given the starters are original to the boat, I decided to order a re-manufactured unit from Motor City Reman.

To say it's a bit smaller than the original would be an understatement.
I know if they are putting the better magnets in these things you can shrink them way down but this thing is really small. The bolt pattern looks right.

Anyone else ever bump in to this before?

Those are new gear reduction starters. One of my 454s has it and it actually spins the engine faster than the old style starter. As long as you got the starter for the rotation engine you have you will love it.

Thanks for reminding me!
Starboard engine with V drives. Might you know if that is the RH or LH spin engine?
The starter I have is LH and with my luck lately, I'm guessing RH is what I need.

If I can believe my survey, the starboard engine is RH or opposite...
