Changed filters on both engines and now the port engine starts then dies and won't start again. A few days later it will do the same thing.
Help please.

Did you have any paint flaking in your module?

Did you change that small disc filter that is in the bottom of the cool fuel module?

Time to measure fuel pressure at the rail to determine if it is the cool fuel module causing the issue.

I didn't have the 8.1, but on my 2006 350 Mag, there was an issue with the fuel relay on the engine wiring harness. It would intermittently cause issues where the cool fuel module pumps would not operate. On the 350 mag, the relay was on the top of the engine by the port elbow. Squeezing the connection, pulling it apart and putting in back together, or changing it with a new relay often helped.

Just got my 2001 34 back from mechanic, fuel pressure regulators on both motors were bad. One motor would start and run for a couple of minutes, the other would not stay running at all.
Last fall boat ran great with no problems.

simple test if you wanted to eliminate this- swap them between motors - one small retaining screw holding them in.

Before you go changing parts and spending a bunch of money unnecessarily, try bleeding the fuel rail. You've opened up the system, and you may have a bit of air trapped in the rail, starving the injectors. There is a schraeder valve on the fuel rail, where a fuel pressure gauge can attach. Most fuel pressure gauges have a bleed valve and line attached, so I usually just route this line into a fuel container, and cycle the fuel pump with the ignition switch. The fuel pump will run for a few seconds each time you turn the ignition switch "on" (not all the way to start). Each time the pump runs, you can bleed a bit more. Continue until no air comes out of the fuel rail, then disconnect the gauge, put the cap back on the valve, and try to start the engine.

Well put a fuel gauge on the fuel rail and got nothing. Pump sounds different than the engine that works. Guess I'll be putting in new pumps.
