Today I was de winterizing my boat and making sure I had good flow on the A/C to flush out the Hammerhead Descaler from yesterday's shinanagons ...I couldn't get the A/C pump to come on. Wiggled wires, played with the breaker and messed around till I got a small shock. That tells me I am getting power, so I did the next logical thing after getting a shock. I hit it with a hammer. Nothing dead as a door nail. Nothing not even an attempt at starting up.

Here is the thing. I just replaced that pump last June when I bought the boat. I had them put the best one in that they could get. According to them it was the March 230v and was about $500-$700 clams. I can remember exactly what I paid the yard to install it. I can't even find a part number on this thing. My guess is that it carries a 90 day warranty and I am .SOL. The first day of spring and the ole boat busts open my wallet for a welcome back $700.00.

I took the impeller section apart and it all looks good, doesn't appear to be sticking at all and the magnet inside the thing also spins freely. It worked fine last fall when I put it away for the winter. Maybe it was Santa and his naught little elves again. Them little bastards are always messing with my boat.

Thank Sea Gull, I caught that after I posted my original post. I am going to have to take this in and have it bench tested today sometime

Don't start tearing it apart, I found this on their website:

[h=3]WARRANTY[/h]March pumps are guaranteed against defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of manufacture. Warranty will be extended for up to one year from the date of purchase, provided that the warranty card is returned to the factory within 10 days of the purchase date.

In all events, liability is limited to the purchase price and to the placement or repair of any pump or parts defective in materials or workmanship. All pumps for which a warranty claim is made must be returned to the factory with shipping costs prepaid. This warranty is void if the pump has been subjected to misuse or negligence. This warranty applies only to pumps used to pump water. For applications with all other solutions, contact the factory for verification of warranty terms before the pump is installed.

Thanks Dicor, I appreciate that.mi took the pump in this morning to have it bench tested and sure enough it is dead as a door nail. They say it has an open circuit inside. I called March and they told me to ship it to them and they would either repair it or send me a new one.

I shipped it this morning and they should get it Wednesday at the latest. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Update on the Pump. Talked to March Pumps warranty department and they received my pump yesterday afternoon and tested it this morning. Bad motor.
They are not sure what caused it. They say that they don't see that often. So I explained to him that its my boat. So if you haven't seen something before.,,,just wait its headed my way. If it hasn't happened yet...just wait a bit ....that is Just kind of the way things work for me.

They shipped me a new pump today and totally covered it under warranty. Just cost me the $23.00 to ship it. I'll take that any day of the week. Pretty sure that is the cheapest I have ever gotten off on a boat repair before. Well I better shut up...it's not installed yet.

I will say that March handled it great. Dealt with one guy every time, he took the time to call me back, explain everything he could and even spent the time researching my system and made sure that I had the right pump for my system. I would have never thought that thing ran through 1072 gallons per hour. Crap I can single handedly clean our entire lake in a season if I left it on all the time. I also found out that the life expectancy of a march pump that is maintained is typically 8-12 years or 9 months if it is on my boat.

So anyway a big thanks to Wayne at March Pumps head office warranty department and to March for standing behind what the build and sell. No questions, no proof of purchase, no bull crap and fast turnaround. Oh and he even sent me my old water hook up and impeller for a spare because it is in such good clean condition.
