Hi

We bought of 400DA last season knowing algae existed in tanks during survey. Since then we've passed several tanks of fuel through system with only one time having an issue requiring a racors to be changed. My question is if anyone has experience with using algae breaking products in fuel tanks. My fear is creating a massive load too quickly on fuel filters and racors. Or maybe just keep using boat and burning new fuel (valtech) is best... Thoughts?

Running clean fuel thru will filter out the loose algae but it will still be growing on the tank walls.

BioBor or Bio Kleen are the two best we used in fleet trucks.

One filter change isnt bad but you can also “polish” the fuel. This is using an auxiliary electric pump from the Racors back to to the fuel fill. Letting it run for about 8 hours.

But that may not be necessary if it hasn’t gotten extreme yet.

We had a similar thing. Shock treatment of biobor and 2 racors per side along with 1 secondary filter change and now the filters come out clear and red at the end of the season

the first two changes after we took possession were completely black filter elements and I could even see the algae strings

If you have algae/fungus, you also have water in the tank. So you’ll need to get the current infestation killed and cleaned up, but also get rid of the water. PowerServices products are very good at this.

I used PS ClearDiesel with a shock treatment of BioBor JF, and just have to keep changing filters, no two ways about it.

Some water is inevitable, but check your fuel fills and replace the o-rings. Just pull one and take it to a local hardware shop and you should beable to find a replacement.
