I’m helping a friend with his 2006 Stingray 200LS 4.3 TKS motor with alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive.
It has a very noisy gimble bearing and the remote reservoir is filled right to the top, actually overfilled because oil leaks out of the top when the cap is removed.
I tried to remove the drive today but it won’t separate any more than 1/4” from the bell housing. I removed the trim rams, lowered the trailer tongue so the drive is all the way down, placed the shifter in forward and removed the 6 nuts/washers.
It separates just enough to disengage the oil valve and it has obvious water contamination in the oil that came out.
It won’t budge, can’t get it removed. I assume the input shaft is seized to the bearing. Has anyone encountered this? What works to get it unstuck?
