I need to replace my alternator. Mine is a part-number 862031, marine sae made in Korea. I see Walmart has them for $83. But I had one replaced a few years back on my other engine and the mechanic installed a Sierra for $275.

I am confused on the pricing....is one better than the other?

The ones at Walmart are probably automotive. Not ignition protected. They can kill you.

Check out DB Electrical. They have reasonably priced alternators, starters, etc that are marine rated. I have purchased from them several times over the years with good success.
