Any Jack Reacher fans?

Does anybody here read the Lee Child books? I have been a big fan for years, but was disappointed by the movies. Too hard for me to suspend my disbelief to the point that Tom Cruise is a 6'5" 275 pound monster.

Anyway, Amazon Prime released an 8 episode show based on the book The Killing Fields. For me, at least, it lives up to the books. It is very well done.

I liked the Tom Cruise movies. Don't like tom Cruise and his whacky ways but he is a good actor. That and much of it was filmed here in Pittsburgh. Saw there is a new one coming out but doubt I'll watch it

I think I've read almost all of the books at this point, maybe a couple I haven't read. I've not watched any of the movies or TV series yet.

If you like this series, try books by David Baldacci as well.

The lead reacher guy 54 …was the quarterback in Blue Mountain State….. this series was hilarious… if you can find it on prime or Netflix it’s worth checking out….. it’s silly funny but absolutely hilarious

loved the books, when I saw who was playing him in the movies, I said no thanks, haven’t watched any of the movies

Haven't read any of the books and probably why I thought the movies were pretty good for what they are. Haven't seen the series on amazon yet, but is on the watch list.

I think Tom Cruise is a good actor for the action movies he does. You just can't get to know his personal life and your ok.

I one thing I can't stand about how all series are being done is they are only 8 episode's, maybe 10 if your lucky. I like the old way of 20+ episodes to a season, because it was a season.

My wife read the books and said the exact same thing. Tom Cruise is not Jack Reacher. We just started to watch the series. I like it. So does my wife. She says that the new guy is what her mind thought Jack Reacher would look like from the books. For some reason she keeps pausing and rewinding some of the shirtless scenes. She says its because she wants to be sure that the room descriptions are the same as she remembered from the books. I'm not so sure LOL. Oh well. It keeps me sucking in my gut for a few days after we watch an episode.

I watched it on Prime for the last few nights. It is just hard to get your head around a giant 6’5” 275 lbs dude bodybuilder playing a retired army Major that solves problems. Tom Cruise did it well on the big screen and Denzel Washington did it well with Equalizer.

The rest of the cast is decent but the lead guy just doesn’t fit the storyline. You keep hoping that there is a reason for him to be cast in the role……but I haven’t seen it yet.

I very much enjoy David Baldacci's books. I also like the John Sanford "Prey" books.

Yeah, nothing to do with Cruise's ability to act. I like his movies a lot. It is just that Reacher's size is like another character in the series. Cruise just didn't physically fit the bill.

Didn't Cruise buy the rights to the Reacher series so he could stroke his ego while playing the lead role. Just what I had heard from others....and yes, we were drinking at the time of the discussion, so I could have left out a coma.

I just finished season 2 of Ozark but saw the Reacher series in the netflix line up. I tend to enjoy those types of shows so Ill be watching the Reacher series when I am done with Ozark. I watch the current equalizer when there is nothing else to watch.
It is funny how so many series end up getting re-written to cast a minority or female or anyone that is not a white male. Look at the new Magnum PI, the new guy is no Tom Selik and they replace Higgins with a british female for some reason. I get it, its Hollywood and the woke crowd has pressured the producers to be inclusive. Why can't they come up with original work though rather than attempt to rewrite history by producing these old hits with all the colors of the rainbow? It is so transparent and predictable. Yawn. SWAT is lead by a Black guy who constantly plays the victim card and of course has to have a female bisexual officer that is involved in a three way relationship. Ugh.
