Axiom 9 MFD and engine stats?

Hi All,

Just bought a 98 370 which had all the usual default electronics (RayPilot 650/RayDATA/NAV398 GPS/R41 Radar/RayChart 601/Furuno Sounder) and then a nice new RayMarine Axiom 9 on top. The Axiom is pretty cool and I would like to integrate any engine data/fuel tanks/etc...that I can but am pretty new to this. I have the 7.4 MPI Horizon units and looked around on RayMarine website but dont really see what I can try to purchase to do some interfacing. Would anyone have already gone down this road maybe and would anyone maybe want my old stuff it it comes time to pull it out?

For those engines you’ll probably need an engine gateway made by Fox. Search the forum for “Fox Gateway” and you should find some information on connecting those engines to an NME a 2000 network.

Yeah, I looked into those for my last boat but was not sure if maybe I was missing something obvious on this one. I see Raymarine has a little SmartCraft Connect device that can pull all the engine data over to the Axiom but again I think my stuff is too old. Just checking to see what other folks were doing.

what you need is something to get the engine data out of the engines and put it on a network. A device like that is engine specific. Mercury makes an engine gateway that takes smartcraft data and puts it on an NMEA2000 network. But it only works with engines about 2003 and newer. That’s where the fox gateways come in. They work with older engines, although I’m not sure if they would work for yours or not. But I believe that’s the only way to get engine data out of the older engines and onto a network.

Just an update that I contacted Fox Marine and Allen actually has his boat at the same marina as me. Small world, so we have met and I bought the packages from him and we will be installing them together in the next few weeks most likely. I bust his chops about a logging function so you can export a run with any problems later to see what was happening but he is pretty busy keeping up with all the ECM's out there so maybe a future thing.

It will be a really good add-on for my Axiom though as there are times my RPM gauge goes a little wonky so I like the idea of having a few different sources of data to compare. Will let everyone know how it all turns out.

How did everything turn out? I have also added Fox Gateway's from Allen. Just waitng now for my guy to finish running the rest of the backbone. I have Axion 12+ and an ES97 networked.

Work has been a bit hectic so I am still looking at them in the box. Allen has been there to help for sure but timing has not worked just yet.

I have spent a little time checking the wiring paths and pulling the radar head unit. I have all the original equipment so trying to figure out what to replace next.

Do you know of any dash bezel kits or anything like that to help cleanup the carnage?

I am also installing axioms, 7” 9” 12”.

Hopefully I will still get all my diesel view info. My installer says it will work.
