Our boat only has 1 wiper and a rather large windshield. I want to apply a product like Rain-X or 303 graphene this year to help shed the water in the areas where the wiper doesn't clear. Can anyone recommend something? Also, can that product be applied where the wiper is or will it cause streaking or skipping when the wiper is in use?

I personally have never been a fan of those products and have read where they will wear out the blade sooner. That said, it's glass, so IMO they should perform the same on a boat windshield as they do on a cars'.

I’ve used RainX for years. I just applied a coat before our trip this week and we were expecting lots of rain for the drive day. It helps a lot on a car, but does rely on the wind to push a lot of the water off. I think it improves visability.

I think it would help some on a boat, but not sure how it’ll work if your getting salt spray. It cheap enough and isn’t tough to apply and try it out.

On my car windows I use Optimum Opti-Seal. It's intended as a paint sealant and gloss enhancer, but it works awesome on glass. The company is pretty well regarded around the car detailing circles. The main draw of Opti-Seal to me is it's REALLY easy to apply. It doesn't cause streaking of skipping in wiper areas, but it doesn't have much longevity against wiper blades. Never used it on the boat, I avoid the rain...

I like to do a really good cleaning of the windshield in the spring and then apply RainX and buff out with a nice clean microfiber. After that I have used the RainX spay cleaner that seems to leave some additional protection. When the water stops beading up I will clean and reapply. Like it was mentioned above - its not much different than an auto windshield - just running around in salt water.

Rain X…… my wife does the windows so no arguing…… I have never used the wipers raining or not

Thanks everyone. Rain-X it is

Another nice thing about Rain-X is that your windows don't build up spots from the salt spray drying on the windshield. The windows on my 12 year old boat still look new.

Ceramic coating for glass. It’s not a film. It cures hard on the glass and doesn’t cause glare. Look at XPEL.com.
