Boat blows up!

Luckily no one hurt!
What happened to the boat?
Marina workers looked unprapared, no ladder to retreive MOBs, cant get firehose working and allow refueling with open doors. Glad all were ok and no kids hurt.

Wow, that hatch cover just pummeled that poor woman. She's lucky her head didn't hit that concrete pier.

It seems if it were my boat and my wife just got the **** beat out of her I'd be tending to her and not watching the boat. And what's up with the big guy on his cell phone meandering around the pier in everyone's way while they are scrambling to get the fire hoses out and going?

This has happened many times off of video. So important to make sure there are no fumes before starting.

I saw this back in 2020. If you watch it until the end, there was a girl on the bow that jumped off and swims to the right also.

My neighbors father, who had a habit of tipping them back while boating, made the mistake of filling his rod holder with gas when fueling up one day.
Upon starting the engine, the dock boy went flying into the water and the Captain went down with the ship! Fortunately he was boating alone that day.
I took these photos 10-minutes before the county police and USCG showed up to do their investigation on the barge that they craned what was left of the boat on.

I had a guy put the fuel nozzle in a rod holder. I asked him not to start pumping and corrected him. His face turned red enough to ignite any gas fumes. I did not give him a tip.

After seeing this and hundreds of others like it you would think there would be more information on refueling steps. So what steps do you follow when refueling.

I hate watching these videos, like watching a bad car accident, but we need to see them to remind ourselves.

I wasn't paying attention once and put the dock water hose in my fuel tank, it can happen.

The easiest step….Pass me the nozzle and I will fill it myself, im still tipping you. We get new faces at our gas dock every year and the second time that season they blew gas out the fill from overfilling all over the back of the boat, im doing it myself from now on

I used to never completely top off tank to avoid doing that, now I don’t top off the tank cause I can’t afford to.

Every time I am around or on a gas fueled boat, these images pass through my mind and I do my best to step to the dock before light off. I see people flip on the blower, wait 5 seconds and then hit the starter. Every part of me wants to school the skipper on the importance of allowing at least multiple minutes of blower time. If the skipper is a young boater, I will offer the instruction and if the skipper is a known prick, I'll chastise him and tell him that someday he will blow himself up but 90 % of the time I just think, Darwin will take care of it.
