The first quarter results are in and boat sales were down 7 percent but Marine Engine Sales were up 3 percent.

I can imagine why engine sales are up. I've been looking for a smaller prop to fit my boat but the size I need does not exist. I have the 5.0 260 hp engine w/bravo III outdrive, 2.20 gear ratio, 20 in uncupped props. The performace out of the hole is not very good. I would sacrafice top end for hole shot but can't if the prop is not made. I contacted Mercruiser about it and they tell me it's Sea Rays problem, or just put the larger motor in. :smt021 This is my first cruiser but certainly not my 1st boat. I'm learning alot the hard way. I'm trying to stay positive but when I see the profit margin results like thoes, a man can't help but wonder why a company can't afford to do the right thing and offer a package at a reasonable price and perform to a reasonable standard. If the Sea Ray engineers think underpowered is ok I guess it's my dumb luck I didn't know better, and my fault I didn't do better reasearch. I bought Sea Ray because I thought I was buying a better boat, and if I did buy the better boat boy I feel bad real bad for the others that bought something else.
