The outdrive should be down for storage but must be powered up for travel when trailered. I forgot the latter and now need to power up to fit the stainless skeg repair sheath. The tonneau cover is stretched tight and I don't want to pull it off of my trailered boat to get at the battery selector switch, which is "off" for storage. I did hook a remote start or "bump" button from the auto parts store to both electrical sides of the switch. The button hangs out just above the swim platform. I can depress the button and the exterior outdrive lift rocker simultaneously to move the outdrive without fuss with the canvas. Picture to follow.

Thought Mercruiser had a fix for that already?

I think a boom button makes an explosive addition to your trailered boat.

I have had to get into my boat twice since I doubled the winter wrap. It's not hard it hasn't snowed yet . I guess you need to trim up. A few snaps are easy, mine is hard

I don't leave batteries in my boat over the winter

With my selector "off", the only circuits left live are the auto bilge pump and the tuner memory. If it can leak, it will.

I give up. Put it on in the spring

The battery switch will disable the trim button on the throttle lever when in the off position.

However Power and ground to the trim pump are not affected by the battery switch, at least that’s how they are originally set up.

That’s why the remote transom trim switch works regardless of the position of your battery switch.

Can't he just power it from the trailer?

Does the boat have to be moved or do you just want to put the Scag cover on

. . . If it can leak, it will.
Am curious to see what kind of a neat, little waterproof jacket, a guy such as yourself, made to protect that direct short you now have hanging off the side of the boat, outside of the winter cover you so vehemently do not want to disturb.

See above.

A couple of suggestions:
1. Add an air bag system to your trailer. Raise the boat up and repair the skeg.
2. Dig a hole under the skeg and make the repair. Fill in the hole.
3. Wait until spring and take the boat to a prop shop so they can weld on a proper skeg instead of one of those break away short cut repairs.

Just a thought.

In all seriousness, use caution with those skeg guards. If you hit something now the chance that it will take out the entire lower unit is quite great.
