Can we get RSS feeds from this forum established???

Glad to see you back Alex it has been a while. I would answer your question but this mod has no idea what a RSS feed is and its advantages :smt017 . Maybe the others do.

RSS is Really Simple Syndication. There are modules available for phpBB that will integrate it. Basically it allows so that one can use a reader to see all the new posts to the message board in one location at the same time.
 
My ignorance is showing on this one as well...........is that any different than the currently available function of View Posts Since Last Visit?
 
Thanks guys ,,, coming out of hibernation, but we're so busy with our new (real) new born baby boy ... got the 340 commissioned last Tuesday and ran her for an hour between 28 and 30 mph ... she's ready and runs like a charm. Washed her off, but the tree pollen are so bad right now, everything outside is yellow in just a few hours ... anyway ... to the RSS feed:

Learn about Google Reader to brush up on RSS/XML or Atom feed readers.
The reason they are very helpful is the fact that I do not have to hop from forum to forum to read the new threads, I get an overview from all my forums, news and blog sites on one page and it refreshes automatically and shows me new threads.
I incredibly simpifies reading all the newssites, blogs and forums that I frequent (about 30 sites) at the same time in the same space. basically when I subscribe to an RSS feed from a forum or any other site and do that within my RSS reader (currently use Google Reader and Blog Express ... they are free!), the RSS feed from that site pushes all new posts as brief summaries items into my RSS reader. I can organize all feeds within the reader into folsers, for example I have folders on EU news, digi cams, camcorders, car forums, BlackBerry forums, my favorite blogs etc., etc. ... you get the point ...

Many forums are providing these, like my BalckBerry Forum.
I wondered if our forum software has thsi function. It will certainly become more important in the future ...
 
I'm learning new things about my boat on here all the time.....but learning about new cool technology here ??? That I didn't expect.

It's on my list of to-do's. Actually installing the feature is not the problem, its the potential hours of work and frustration I face when I screw up the installation :grin: I will get some more features like that in a few months when things slow down again. Thanks for the suggestion.
