Hi all, first time here.
I have a 86 268DA with a 260/alpha,I recently took my boat out on the Detroit River and all was good for awhile. Towards the end of our outing, I was cruising along at 3200 rpms when I felt a "clunk" like I hit something. I was in 20ft of water and immediately backed off the throttle and every thing seemed ok. I checked the prop and not a scratch on it ( 4 hrs on new prop and hub kit). So I throttled up and got on plane and stared to go and I got the clunking sound. Took it back to the slip for the night. Next day I checked everything out and seemed ok. I checked the coupler, no rubber chunks or dust, I put a painted line on the coupler and input shaft for testing. I checked my gear engagement in forward and reverse, again seemed ok. I took it out and ran it WOT from dead stop several times for an hour and I couldn't get it to do it again. Paint marks are still aligned. I can't figure out for the life of me what happened. Like I said, it's got a 260/alpha1 with a 16x16 alum.prop. Anything guys?

Not sure about not being able to repeat the issue but it may have been a piece of wood floating just below the surface you hit.
I would check to be sure a blade is not bent also.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It was at night so that is very possible. I'am also going to pull the prop and check to see if the anode on the carrier came loose somehow.
