Not sure
Just picked up my 2005 270 Sundeck and found that there is only sound from the front speakers. (Wasn't the surveyor supposed to find that out for me?)
The four in the middle and rear aren't working.
I looked at the wiring of the unit in the head compartment and can find nothing wrong. Someone told me there is a separate amp for the rear? How would I find that and test it?
TIA

Not sure but look to see if there is a separate cockpit amp switch. I am guessing you also checked the fade was set for the cockpit.

I checked for a separate cockpit amp switch but none to be found. The fade works as expected, only to the front, set to the rear and no sound.

I did find the fuse for the amp located in above the batteries and changed it although it looked good. No change.
I've pulled the head unit and all the connections look good as well.
So it is either bad wiring to the amp or the amp is shot.
Where is that amp located?

Wonder if this is like the issue I had on my XMD unit? If so I ran into a similar issue a few years back. There was cockpit sound only it was real low and muffled. Turned out the XMD reverted the RCA outputs back to "sub" setting rather than "rear" or "full-range".

Here is some reading along with the resolution:

Yes just had same issue with xmd3 after winter storage. I had to program mine back to rear. The XMD4 face is different. Not sure about the me u and sub menus

Got it fixed.
The dealer was down by my boat (his boat is two slips from mine) and I explained the problem. He called his electronics guy down, and found there is a blade fuse in the back of the amp, which is mounted under the helm accessible through the cabin. Replace the fuse and 3 of the 4 speakers work. .... now to trace the fault with that last speaker, by the little door to the swim platform.
