Funny I just finished it last night - I used 3/8” lexan and the clips suggested . I did put some rubber tape on the inside of the clips but if I did it again I would just but 3/4” clips not 7/8 and skip the tape.

Quint and Mark - Can you send me a pic of your cockpit sink covers? I am wanting to put something in that is easier to take off / put on and store. Thanks, K

Absolutely, but mine is a galley sink cover. I guess I missed the memo on cockpit - lol

Hi. FYI. I just Made this sink cover to better use this space for entertaining. First I created A template by covering the area with overlapping rows of painters tape and marking it with a sharpie. Transferred to MDF and cut it out. Put rubber feet on bottom to clear the sink rim.

Brilliant! I was planning on making a wood cutting board/cover for my galley sink this winter and I was wondering how best to make a template.

My plan is to use my router to cut an edge recess on the sink side of the board so it sits inside the top edge of the sink and doesn't move around. I will start with an oversized maple cutting board I have already.

The sink rim is raised 1/2 inch so you it might be better to rout out the area of the sink so the top you are making fits over and around the sink and will sit flat on the counter top. Alternatively, you could attach a wood cleat to the underside of the cover that will fit into the sink and keep the cover from moving. For my cover I just used 6 Non slip feet just a little taller than 1/2 from Amazon. The slots I cut For the middle rail support and for the faucet along with the feet , keep the cover in place.
