I apologize if this was answered here before, but. When replacing the cool fuel filter and screen, how do you remove or de pressurize the unit. I opened yesterday and the fuel was spilling out at rate I wasn't comfortable with in my engine compartment. I though it would slow, but it really didnt.

It shouldn't do that, the fuel valve is electric and should shut of with the ignition switch unless it has been manually turned on at the valve.

I thought I remembered, when we had our 260DA, a manual or instructions saying to manually cut off the Parker Hannifin valve. You can rotate it 90* with your fingers or it has a slot in it for a screw driver....however, it is an electric valve and makes sense it would be closed unless the ignition was on...

Hmm, well it is . I thought I remember someone saying pull the coil wire and crank engine to relieve pressure? Not sure if that's with CF unit plugged in or disconnected though.
I am still on blocks, so the spill is not as bad, I have a catch at the drain plug for the fuel. Its just unnerving to me to stuck down there with 4 oz of gas running out in that contained area

Google is good, search and you shall find. Gen 3 cool fuel manual from Brunswick Marine.
"
1. Allow the engine to cool down.
2. Close the fuel supply valve, if equipped.
NOTE: Mercury MerCruiser recommends that the engine be shut off for 12 hours prior to filter removal.
3. Disconnect the Cool Fuel module harness from the engine wiring harness.
4. Turn the key switch to the start position and allow the starter to operate for five seconds to relieve fuel system pressure.
5. Turn the key switch to the off position.
6. Loosen each filter assembly retaining screw until the screw is disengaged from the Cool Fuel module. Do not remove the
filter assembly retaining screws from the filter cap."

Now thats what I've done already, twice I cranked the engines and there still seems to be a lot of overflow, maybe Its just me

There is no pressure in that chamber and it should be no more than a 1/3 full. Your valve isn't working as intended.

Can you elaborate on that valve? Is there a shutoff somewhere on the unit or elsewhere?

usually mounted to the bulkhead in front of the engine, just follow your fuel lines.

The valve is in the gas line between the tank and the cool fuel filter. It looks like the one below.

So you are thinking that that valve is not working and gas is being constantly fed to the cool fuel module, very interesting. I''ll try to put it on bypass and see if gas flow ceases. Thanks. If in fact it is bad , is there any dangers or unwanted consequences that could happen?
Do u have a part number?

Thank you, maybe mine is on bypass feeding the CF module, I will check
Thanks again, both of mine were on bypass, which is why the CF unit was over flowing with gas. I successfully replaced both filters and screens in about 30 mins!
