Damaged running gear

Maybe I was a little harsh, but I can tell you this. You can call Colt with a serial number and they can tell you everything about that pistol down to the day it was manufacturerd and supply parts - on pistols back to 1848. So 36 years is nothing.
I agree with you but there again Colt makes all of its parts which is pretty cool. The only thing SR makes is the Hull. All the other components are provided by others. Once upon a time they actually made the cabinets inside the boats and did their own lamination. Not anymore.......I cannot think of a single component they make today other than the hull.

Working with them 10 years ago......they had really restrictive supplier agreements. You couldn't even say you worked with SR unless they gave you permission. They didn't want customers getting direct access to their suppliers. They also had inventory requirements that kept the SR inventory on the supplier books but all that has changed when they stopped building boats greater than 40'.

They don't control the market anymore which is a hard position for its customers and workers.

To your point, I believe they have all the records they need to answer an owner's question about a build. The problem simply is that you have to staff that position and digitize the history.......which is a cost when you are allegedly losing money.

Perhaps we can convince them that owners would be willing to pay for a "build" package on their boat which would include: Build Sheet, Parts Manual, Service Manual, Owner's Manual, Full Electric schematics and anything else they may have related to a model including suppliers used with boats over 10 years old.

talk with Pablo or Jeff at General Propeller

BEST !

RWS

The other issue which looms large with the quotes he is getting are the reviews of the facility. Lawrence is stuck there but a lot of people appear to have had a bad experience with that place. Hopefully.....his experience will be better.

3 years ago. I feel your pain. 2 new shafts, 2 new props, 1 bent strut, 1 damaged tranny and 1 incorrect marked rock = 15K of damage

Just an update, it looks like one strut is bad and needs replacement. He quoted me 3k for one. Both prop shafts and props have been sent out for straightening and repair. I have a 5k deductible on my policy. Praying I get this all back before nov 6th.

Hoping it works out for you and you get on your way. It must be frustrating.

Another Update, finally got my estimate $36000! I have an agreed value of $40000. Sent the estimate to my insurance adjuster. Not sure if they will cover all this?

In your first post you said you just had liability (I may missed an update/clarification). If so, why will they cover any of it?

Yes I did, stupid me thought that’s what I had but fortunately I am insured. 5k deductible. I just got the estimate today and forwarded it to my insurance adjuster I am sure I will hear from him by Monday or Tuesday.

With that much damage do you thing they will fix or total the boat?

Personally I think they will total it. Not sure what I should do. I guess I will have to see what the final numbers are.

How did it go from 9,700+ to 36k?
Was there more hull damage than originally suspected?

I would get a second estimate.

We completely disassembled, refurbished every component, and put it back together with two coats of bottom paint on my boat for less than half of that price.

As I mentioned before……the reviews on that place are cause for concern. No reason the price should be that high unless the are doing a lot of fiberglass work or charging a fortune to have it in their yard.
