Mike, is it turning over after twenty minutes? [Ignition or fuel] or not turning over [starter or battery]?

yes it turning over but dint start .its a carb no injected, but if i let it like 2 hours to cool the engine it start very well ,. way ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

i was thinking back to my aircraft maint. Days, but after reading some, vapor lock can happen with carb. Engines as well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/vapor_lock

what you could try is opening the engine hatch after you shut down and see if that makes a difference. If that fixes the problem (vapor lock occurs due to excess heat) then you will need to find some way to increase the airflow into the engine compartment. Have you tried running the blower after shut down? That could help also.
thank you ..............................

Mike

I also believe it is a vapor lock issue from your description.

Sometimes this issue is more of a problem in the spring (at least in the south) because of the fact many boaters have winter blend gasoline in their tanks. Our service department tells me the winter blends cause some vapor lock problems. Many of us boat year round (don't know whether you do or not but I see you are located in Georgia) and the gasoline blends are different in the winter than the summer.

In addition to the advice you have been given above, I also suggest you let your engine idle for a few minutes before turning it off in hot weather. This allows the engine to cool down a bit and will help out as well.

It is vapor lock, I had the same boat and engine. When you stop, you need to let the engine cool off a bit, leave the blower running for 5-10 minutes, open the engine cover. You can also keep a rag and pack some ice in it and put it on the fuel pump to cool it off. I started putting ethanol treatment in my boat and the issue went away. I used STA-BIL Ethanol Treatment.

Vapor lock happens when the fuel in the intake is so hot it turns to a vapor and has no combustible capacity. It must cool down and condense before it will combust. My old man used to pour water on the intake manifold of his 64 Ford as it would vapor lock at any gives time. Thing would start right up after the water treatment but I wouldn't recommend it on any engine. Either fuel blend is incorrect or the engine can't get enough cooling air as others have mentioned.

Are your exhaust manifolds over heating the engine compartment? Is your water pumps doing it's job? Just a thought.

the exhaust manifolds its over heating the engine compartment , the water pump its new and the thermostat mi concern its the thermostat aim not sure Watt its the temp for the thermostat 160 degrees or 140 degrees i install 160 because the old one it was 160 but the Gui's from west Marin tell me this engine carry 160 but for the book cold be 140 degree , cold be the thermostat the problem ????????????????????

?????????? Mike, i told you before, you are going to get a lot better response if you write in complete sentences, and for gods sake spell check! Really, read your question objectively and then ask yourself how it looks to others. Jeeze.
i check the spell and its ok .. Wen i start the engine its start very well but wen i run-nit like 20 min then stop-et the engine its turning but dint start (have tu turning like 2-3 minutes to start ) wat could be ??????

Hey 727 it sounds like his muffler bearing has siezed up. Maybe a dirty prop and he needs that prop wash kit from west marine or from other fine boat supply stores

They switched models in the alpha driver. They don't use oil, but axle grease (use the marine grade). That driver has a muffler bearing as show below:

If you pull the driver, you will have to separate the Kuhneutson valve from the exhaust. Its just below the Johnson rod.

Hy guys, that muffler bearing could be the problem ? do you think i have to changed ?????
