Yeah...except that all of them seem to support all the course computers, so still not clear what they changed in each iteration.Interesting question, but my guess is they are the same with no real difference and just support newer course computers (of that era) S1, S2, S3 etc. The legacy forum doesn't have much info on that exactly, but here is a compatibility link: https://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=3968
Interesting that the latest control heads p70s(r) will work with the older course computers.

That compatibility link is helpful. There is some question as to what "compatible" means. There are a lot of features packed into the new p70s.
Yeah, not to mention that I'm not totally sure there is tremendous value in the multitude of features these things deliver now. Auto and Track are about all I need to work. Notably, the heads themselves are becoming less relevant since the course computers integrate with the MFDs. If I upgrade to an Evolution AP, I doubt I'll get a p70 or its equivalent in the future since I already have an Axiom+. Don't know what the extra screen will get me. I'd be more likely to cut the ST8002 hole a bit bigger and drop a 7" Axiom in. Far more flexibility and direct control over the Evolution course computer.Thats the thing, all heads support all course computers in some fashion, but not all of the features in the head unit are compatible with the older CC's. Just like there SeaTalk and SeaTalkNG converter, doesn't convert 100% when it comes to autopilots. It seems only there newest AP's work the way they should and will integrate completely with all features/functions fully supported, at least according to there tech support.

Truthfully, I do this with the ST8002 for sure, so that's a good point. Would be cool to just have a remote control for that, though. Good thought. I'm not sure I'm going to bother with this at all in the near term. The only thing I can get the Axiom to do that the p70Rs does is when I'm in heading hold, I can reach up and spin the knob a few degrees. Its a nice feature. I do use it to display some additional data boxes, but I'm with you, I'm looking at dropping a 9" Axiom+ into the center of my dash and moving the switches outboard (one of the 380's did this looks awsome).
I cant find any documentation, but I think I can add an RMK-10 and if the rotary knob acts in the same fashion as the rotary knob on the p70Rs, I'm selling the p70Rs and getting the 9" Axiom+ and adding the RMK-10.

Of course, I say that now...
Thats what I said...
I posted a question on the RMK-10 to Raymarine Tech Help...I'll report back.
