Noticed last night that my anti-freeze, replaced three months ago, was discolored in the overflow bottle. It looks and smells like fuel is in it. Is that possible? I don't know where fuel and anti-freeze could cross paths. Does it happen anywhere? I have always run about 10 degrees cool (170) in that engine, have no white or black smoke, oil pressure is about 5 PSI less than the other engine...

Engine: Cat 3116 (1997)

On my gas engines I was told if you take off the rad cap on the heat exchanger and you get burps in the antifreeze you have a bad head gasket.

i had the exact same thing on my 99 400 with 3116 > the antifreeze bottle would gain volume which was deisel > Eventually had cat mechanics replace the sleeves ( sleeves by the deisel intake area , had to tear then out and then put in new copper sleeves ) , three were scored > mechanic said it was a factory defect but no coverage > bill was 1500 dollars
