So, cancer surgery in 2/2020. Went thru it all as maybe some of you been through it know.
After 2 years doc said I all good. Now he keeps want see me every 3 months at $350 out of my pocket. After insurance. He spends 5 minutes says yep you good. I want to cut this back to maybe 6 months or a year.
Should I take control of this or just let him set the schedule?

If you are just going for blood work and consultation on the results then what I do is take the blood test and tell him to call me if he sees something but I also get the results sent to me so I can read them myself. Then I see him every 6 months

not even blood work, just examines my neck and mouth. 10 minutes tops. He's a good doctor, but this seems excessive. I only see my cardiologist once a year.

Well, in my case, same general area-oral.

I had it done at Augusta Cancer center, they recommended checkups for five years at decreasing frequency. Same thing- check me out observationally, and the scope down the nose/ throat. After 3 yrs and at a 6 mo interval, I started going back to my local ENT, who did the original biopsy, for that. Augusta is 1.5hrs away.
I coincided it with my annual physicals. Last year was it, but I still plan to have it done occaisionally.

I would and can conclude that if we had not found my cancer when we did, I would not be sitting in my shop right now enjoying a beautifull day next to my Cobra and GT 'vert.

I tried to be the best patient I could, wanted to give it a chance, that's why the 5yrs.

I did my PETC scan 4 weeks early after the radiation, way too early. Dr said he had never seen a cleaner one-gave me confidence that we had beat it.

I will get another scan one day I imagine, but done with all that for now.

Luck withyour decision
