Does anyone else experience response time issues with Searay.com?

I really like the format of the revised Sea Ray site but I just can't get this site to work properly no matter which browser I use (I have tried IE, Chrome and Firefox). Many times it is extremely slow to bring up a page (or it never brings it up) after you have selected it. Some pictures never seem to load and the price configurator seems to freeze after you have selected an option or two. There are other (response) issues too but these are the main problems I experience. This is not a recent problem and has been going on for a very long time.

If I am the only one experiencing these problems, then maybe there is something I need to tweak inside my Browsers (but I don't know what). I do not have problems like this with any of the other sites I frequent.

It's not you. Worst site I have ever tried to use. Like you doesn't matter what browser.
Amazing that a company the size of Sea Ray can't give site users a good experience.

I find the typing to be very slow when replying with a quote. Not sure why this happens. Does not happen when just making a comment.

I just tried it in Firefox and Chrome, slow.

This has been going on for a long time and Sea Ray really needs to address it. It certainly can't be good for their business.

I tried using it on my Mac this morning, seemed a little glitchy. First when I went to look at the 370, it didn't take me there. When I finally got there, it did okay until I built the boat. At that point, the system crashed. I tried it again and it came up with a price for the 370 at close to $500,000....obviously something is goofed up.
I priced one out, not loaded, 529K, so maybe you could get it for under 400K:smt101 ouch!! Don't worry Scott, they'll cuddle a little while after:smt043

I sent an email in several weeks ago and had a dealer call shortly after concerning a parts issue. Sent one early last week about my canvas that was just made 'in house' and the pattern availability and not heard back. It was difficult trying to figure out just how to contact them. And I understand wanting inquiries going thru dealers, but when dealers aren't/can't help......

I'm on a Mac Powerbook running Firefox (latest) with a 50/5mb pipe and I'm not noticing any issues with the site. I do see it has a lot of Javascript and picts, so I can see the potential for issues. Esp. if your internet connection isn't the greatest.

If you have a particular page that's an issue, post it and I can see if there are errors.

In my case it is not a "bug". I have a new computer and no problems like this exist on any other site I frequent. Unfortunately I don't have more than one computer so I could run my own comparisons.

I wanted to bring this up in hopes Sea Ray sees the posting and looks into the matter if it affect others (and it does based on the comments I see). A large company like Sea Ray should have a web site that works flawlessly regardless of the platform their customers use when accessing the site.

Maybe they hired Kathleen Sebelius to develop the new site?

Although the performance results are the same, I hope they didn't spend as much as we taxpayers did to get that up and running.

I haven't been back to the Sea Ray site in weeks. My hope was that they were just having some upgrade issues that needed some fixes. If the problem is still going on, well, never mind.

Thanks for the thread Dave! Obviously, I hate for a negative experience to be what prompts the thread, but I'm grateful that you brought it up so we can take a look into it. As you would expect, we do keep extensive stats on the site that are reviewed on a regular basis. The new launch has been generally very well received (corroborated by pages per visit, time on site, etc). That said, perhaps the engaging experiences for some are masking horrible experiences for others. I've passed this thread to the web hosting and design company to begin to quantify at a more granular level what's going on. I'll see them in person next Tuesday to follow up. I'm open to any comments or feedback along the way. The task is made a little more difficult by the fact that the site loads exceptionally quickly on all my machines and on those of the folks in my social circles (where I'll often pull it up, just to see how it does on an unfamiliar machine). I'm particularly troubled by the poor performance on an iPad, as those stats are up massively. On the old side (prior to Sept 18) it was impossible to scale the site to an iPad. With the new responsive design, not only do we scale the site for mobile devices, we strip out a lot of content to ease the loading process. Nonetheless, your collective experiences are quite real and they give us something to go investigate and improve. Again, thanks for the thread.

The tab doesn't seem to want to take me to the boat. Instead it takes you back to the home page. Actually, I just tried it on multiple boat types, and in no case did it actually take me anywhere but the home page.

It does work if you select the specific boat from the summary page that pops up after clicking Sea Ray Models, so it would seem there is a problem with the tabs.

Scott, that's humbling but immensely helpful feedback. I also see this behavior and we'll get it fixed ASAP. Sorry you had to fill in as a beta tester!

Hers something to confuse you even more....I just came off the site including pricing a boat and it worked perfectly...on my IPad.

I sent a request for spectrum numbers weeks ago, never got a response.

Same here....sent the first request a month ago and waited 2 weeks and then sent another. It has been 2 weeks since the 2nd request and still no response. Called them and had the numbers in 5 mins....
