I finally got the chance to transfer to Florida after 16 years with my company. I will be based at Orlando(KMCO). Lots of stuff is still up in the air with where to live and wifes job but we are going all in and going to see what happens. I have some training before I go so it looks like the last week of January I will be a Florida resident once again!!!

Good luck,i hear you have to have a searay down there.LOL

Congrats!! Glad to hear it and very happy for you!!

I'm jealous. I would love to move to Florida. The wife is from the New Orleans area tho and wants to go there to be closer to her Mom. I'm not too sure what boating is really like on Lake Pontchatrain.

We Floridians love our water and our weather (although in summer its brutal). We don't love our governor or the attitude towards live aboards. Overall its a great state for boating. Welcome.

Thanks Wyane and others. After seeing this http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/70638-Lost-a-good-friend-today I know this is the right thing we are doing. You know you can stay in your comfort zone because it is easy but if you never step out and try something you will never know what you may miss(good or bad).
Wife and my family are both in Florida(Orlando and Tampa area) and we have been flying back and forth for over 10 years as much as we can. I hope to do all the little things we could never do before just flying down for the weekend. Moves are not cheep but we have been preparing financially for this for a while so when the time came we could do it. Now it's that time and we have to trust our plan and just do it!

Difficult to figure out what one should do. A drastic change of plans can be good. At 50 I was given a package and started a business. I could have stayed where I was but one either has to stay or go. Stay is simple, go is difficult but; go can turn out to your best decision. Time will tell.
Good luck

While I do not "love" the governor, I was glad to see him reelected over what was running. So some folks must care for him?
Have to second that, you got that right!

Congrats Kevin! Wish you all you wish yourselves! We made a really dramatic move back in 1991 to move and live in the US, which was not always easy but NEVER regretted it. Best thing we ever did for us and our two children! Plus Florida is just the best place ever!

Quit your yapping and get your butt down here so we can do some fishing again! You flew down here so much over the past years it's like you're a transplant already. Glad you're finally making the move.

We have good times on The Lake!!! There is a cove back by the old Ponchatrain Beach that we stern in and raft up next to each other during the summer months, Grill, Music, adult beverages, etc.

PLEASE.....take me with you!!!! I'll even bring my own boat :smt001

All you have to do is move! Trust me....its not THAT hard....

to to many things keep me planted here in VA. Tough to sell a 230yo home, the girls, and my dad. But those Keys look so very nice!

Kervin, if you ever miss the cold weather, I can send a quart full in Feb.
