Part of the problem with Trump not doing "anything" is that his hands are tied when it comes to enforcing things at the state level. The National Guard is a state level organization as are the "state police" and the city and county police. Trump has no authority over them.

This is not a federal problem, it is a problem among the various states and as such, it is up to the states to take whatever corrective action they deem necessary.
 
I believe these moronic mayors and governors are allowing the chaos for political purposes just like keeping their states locked down. They hope to blame the Trumpster w the ignorant and misguided belief they can turn voters against him in the election.

Instead and as with everything theses idiots try, it backfires in their face.

All they’re doing is firing up his base.

I looked at the FBI website to verify the numbers the author put in this graphic before posting it.
I think he/she broke down the male/female ratio only for the Black/White/Asian total Because they were murdered. Both add up to the same number (48).
There were 41 “other ethnicities” that he/she didn’t break down by sex.
It looks like he didn’t break those 41 down because they were killed in accidents.

Is there a set minimum country or state wide training standard for police officers?
How long does it take to go from high school graduate to police officer?
Do police officers ever get retested to prove they still have the skills to continue working?
Based on my very limited interaction with police why are there 20 year old and 50 year old constables. Is it because promotions are few due to officers staying in the force for their entire life?

In NYS there are rigorous training standards that are administered by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services. Police officer training must be certified by the state standards and officers must be at least 21 years old. To continue working as a police officers, police departments generally provide continuing training and all of the departments that I’m aware of utilize a performance evaluation system to evaluate their officers and provide feedback on their performance/evidence of substandard performance; this information is used to make decisions regarding continued employment, promotions, and terminations. In my 26 years with the New York State Police, I spent 5 1/2 years as a Lt. in the Internal Affairs Bureau investigating allegations of police misconduct.

I wasn't disputing the point being made. I have looked at FBI stats several times and after doing it always felt 'Black Lives Matter' as if things only happen to Blacks is a mistake, that racism is always the 'cause of choice' is a mistake.

Does racism play a part, no doubt it does, perhaps that's 'part of' the dis-proportionality we keep hearing about.

I think an 'all lives matter' approach would be better myself but now days I have to be careful when I say that or someone will bust the windows out of my car or something.

Thanks is this sort of standard through out the US. In Canada all I know is a friend's daughter went into RCMP and from what he said there is a lot of training and then you work in small town or rural area to start. Do not know about any other police forces in Canada.

I have seen true racism twice in the last 20 years...once sitting at a bar in Pennsylvania when a black man walked in to the bar and the strangers beside me said why is he coming in here?..... the other was at the Talladega 500 and some stranger beside me .. told me he couldn't believe a black guy was in the stands..... This one intrigued me because Nascar is so white... So I talked to this guy and his dad to try and figure them out. He pointed to the mountain where his house was and told me his family had lived in those hills for generations.... Alabama and the hills...you are not going to fix that.

I didn't understand these two in the end...it was like it was in their blood … I couldn't be friends with them....I could tolerate them to a point....does that make me racist towards all hillbillies …..or is it I just don't "like" these two?

I think the word racism is insanely over used and generalized.... you only see it in the media in my world anyway. My daughter has a black friend....actually all her friends are black or Hispanic come to think of it.... one of her friends that she has had from grade school was over last night to get help from my wife with her benefits.... standing around the island I looked at her and for the first time I said to myself she is black....that would have never crossed my mind before... that's what this bullshit is doing to us

So what is the solution to the US race issue? Trump did not cause the issue, it has been there for years. IMO his election is a symptom, not a cause.

But so far I see nothing he is doing to solve it, but what do you all think is the answer? I for one, may not agree with politicians approach to things, but I do not believe they are all morons.

Social media has made things a lot worst.

We've come a long way since the early 1900's and I feel like we've just taken a huge step back. Feel like were in a history textbook right now.
