about two hours into our cruise my cd player/radio began to smoke. There's nothing more scary than electric smell/smoke. Anyway, we powered it off and the problem stopped. We couldn't pull it out yet to find out the issue but I've never heard of this happening. Maybe the previous owner did a crappy job wiring?

Also, I have two batteries: One to for starting and one for the house. Anyway, we cruised for a couple of hours on my start battery. We stopped and floated for lunch and when I went to start back, Battery #1 was completely dead. I switched battery position to "both" and and it fired right up.

Sounds like I have some wiring issues and I intend to pull the boat out in the fall and have it completely wired. Any suggestions or similar issues?

Touche'...

It's actually from West Marine. I'm pulling it out today to see what I'm working with. If it's dead, at least I'll have an excuse to upgrade.

I pulled the radio and no wiring issues. Something burnt up inside. I called West Marine where the radio was purchased and they did not hesitate to warranty it out. Keep in mind, I didn't have a receipt, box, anything. I love those guys and gal at West Marine.

New radio in and working fine. Weird!!!!!
