I have a 270 da 1997 with a engine called 7,4l.
It has a carburetor and Bravo3 drive!
Now to my problem, since the engine is called 300 bhp/7,4l and the boat is built late 1996 nobody knows wich model i have regarding sparkplugs and filters!
My enginenumber is:0K156257
And the supplier of spares says it can be a gen 5 or 6 or even a 409cui engine!
Does anyone have a clue in this eminent forum?
Best regards from a cold and grey Sweden!

You have either a 7.4L @ 300 hp or a 7.4LX also @ 30 hp. THe 7.4L is a carbureted 454 cu in motor manufacturer for Mercruiser by General Motors. The 7.4LX is the same engine but instead of a carburetor it has throttle body electronic fuel injection. I believe you have a Gen VI......but here is a website that will help you figure it out:

Berkan, I cut and pasted this from Frank's link.

7.4L BRAVO (GEN. VI) GM 454 V-8 1996-1997
Click on Serial number
0F800700 THRU 0K999999

GEEZE! i figured i'd help berkan out so i went to mercury parts express and the format is completely changed! where are the exploded parts diagrams created by entering your engine serial number that were so helpful???? now they want you to register with a parts dealer, which would be fine, but i cant even find the dealer i usually buy from! without the parts diagrams, you need to KNOW the part number you are looking for, which is sometimes not feasible. that stinks!

I think it's a 7.4L w/300Hp. Gen VI. I have a 98 7.4L MPI. Gen VI+. I have NGK V-power TR5 spark plugs in my engine.

Hello again
Great response, thank you guy`s for your input!
Now,all i need is what kind of sparkplug is this? 33-898264001SPARK PLUG33-59571

33-59571 is NGK BR6FS
33-898264001 is AC Delco MR43T

You can use either one, or if you prefer.....

Champion RV12C6
Bosch HR8APY

Rondds, I believe that was bam marine. Great way to search. Try this link here

That should do it. SB

that works too, but the site i'm referring to was mercruiser operated. you'd put in your engine serial #, select a dealer near your zip code, pick a system (exhaust, cooling, ignition, etc) from a dropdown, and they'd have exploded parts diagrams with part numbers and LIST prices. now it's GONE and the mercruiser parts express page is vastly different and lame.
