Hello everyone, I did an extensive search of the forums for this but couldn't find anything (maybe my terminology is off?). The four hull windows around the v berth of our 89 390 EC have yellowed so much that vision is about 90% obscured. I'd like to fix this so that people can quickly look out the windows while at anchor or a mooring, but I'm not sure what this is going to take, or how to prevent it going forward.

I'm afraid I don't know what kind of plastic material this is... does anyone know if it can be polished using a headlight polish type compound or clean it up using some other type of method?

If not, any suggestions on how to source replacement windows would be greatly appreciated (would Sea Ray make replacements for a model this old?)

You all have my sincere gratitude in advance.

I found replacement windows for my 1988 340 on eBay. Search for the seller "Searayman13." I don't know if the windows are the same size between the 390 and 340? Or if they are different, searayman13 might have them for your boat.

I didn't try to polish mine. They were so brittle and yellowed that they just crumbled into my hands as I was removing them. If you have questions about how I replaced mine, let me know. It wasn't too hard and the new ones look great!

Good luck,
Dan

Thanks, Dan! I just found the windows you were referring to on Ebay being sold by searayman13. These look like they are right but I will measure when at the boat this weekend and hope that they match up!

As for the process, I've been doing a bit of digging and just found a very helpful post by Turtlesboat on how to do it: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/45694-Porthole-leak-How-to-fix?p=505410#post505410 I'm assuming there aren't any major differences for the process with our windows except the process is a a step shorter because we don't have to worry about gaskets, but please let me know if that's not the case. Thank you again!

I looked at that thread and, yes, it's close. I think it was a little easier to do ours. You're right, no gaskets. He mentioned screws have to go back in from where they came because they are sized differently, but on mine, all the screws were the same so I didn't worry about it. Also, the outer trim piece on my boat snaps on. It's not held on by screws and that's how Searayman13's replacement windows worked as well. But looking at other 80's era Sea Rays in my marina, it looks like some snapped on and some screwed on.

Check out this thread too - http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/70670-Rebeding-V-birth-port-windows
