Finally replaced the cockpit stereo over the weekend. The Kenwood Marine 350u marine radio allows you to plug the iPad/iPhone directly into the unit to play itunes and/or stream pandora as well as netflix etc... from the ipad to the stereo. But the biggie is that it charges the ipad/iPhone at the same time from the radio. Skip, thumbs up/down, change your pandora stations, all from the radio. sweetness.

That is a nice set up. Can I ask what case for your ipad that is? I like the idea of mounting like that. One thing that I hate about my boat is that they mount the Clarion headunit in a cabinet in the cabin. Really??? How dumb is that. Even with remotes at the helm and stern its inconvenient.

That is why I relocated the MP3 female jack to the cockpit. So I can control the music and volume from up above.

Well if you would have seen the condition of the stereo I pulled out of there, you would know why they put them in the cabin now. The thing was toast.

I just put in a Kenwood KMR-550U, decided to go with the higher models because of extra pre-amp outputs on the back; other than those same as the 350U- awesome CD player.
