Twin 4.3's @205hp ea.
Hi everybody! Doug here. Just bought a 1987 268 Sundancer yesterday and am excited to get her in the water soon. She's got twin 4.3l V6's with less than 40hrs on both! I'll be trailering and launching at public ramps.

I have one specific question and then I'm open to everything I should, but don't know. So please, any and all advice, warnings, do's and don'ts you have, let me hear it.

Question: I've heard that if launching from a ramp (rather than having a marina put it in for you) there is the risk of seawater flooding the engine's thru the exhaust's. Should I be concerned with this?

Thanks in advance for all the advice!

Doug

Doug, Never had a problem, several boats and hundreds of hours, all trailered boats.

Wecome to CSR
I personally would be more worried about the circus we call public ramps than water intrusion

The rumors you have heard are probably with particular circumstances... like bad or missing exhaust flappers, then backing in way to quick, and maybe even with the engine(s) already running (bad no-no!). Avoid these combined circumstances and you will be fine.

Welcome to CSR!
