Kohler Fault Ecm Voltage

Kohler 5EKD with 35hrs would not start and was showing Fault ECM voltage. Turned out to be a bad remote module. Removed the remote in the cabin and it smelled a little toasty. Voltmeter showed a hard short. To test I unplugged the remote and was able to start the genset in the engine compartment. Ordered replacement online plug and play. Also, FYI the wholesaler told me that there were a few defective remotes out in the supply change. Kohler is aware. Hope this helps anyone with a Kohler genset issue. I know they’re a PIA.
