KVH3 pricing

I would like to add that KVH support is super helpful and friendly to work with.

Any chance you'd be willing to walk a new guy through the same process? What was involved work/cost wise? Easy DIY?

I'm taking delivery of a 2004 420 this week that also has a KVH M3 installed. We are already DTV subscribers at home, would love to get the 4 TV's on the boat up and running!

H24 from DTV or HDVR24, A splitter, $10, & destacker $75. Send me a pm with your email and I'll forward it to you.

One added item, disconnect your out to TV output from your old box and plug it into your new box. I needed to get an RCA to co-axial adapter.

Why would you go with a destacker? Only to mix the OTA and DTV channels?
The viewing quality suffers significantly putting the Sat HD on the coax; actually very significantly.
Why not install a HDMI splitter/amplifier and run HDMI throughout the boat and use the existing coax for the OTA? From the television it's simply selecting the input to either view OTA or DTV.....
Suggest something like this:

I updated a bit after you replied....

The issue was my older KVH M10 receiver & M3 satellite dish would no longer activate, so instead of spending $4,000 on a new KVH unit I was able to due a work-around with the instructions that KVH provided.

Thank's again for posting this info Mark, I've added this to my list of things to do shortly after delivery!

Did you have to retain the M10 to make the HR 24 work?
Do you have to keep a subscription for both boxes now?

Great question, because I asked KVH the same one, because DTV couldn't answer the question. No, you cancel the subscription on the older M10 and just have the new H24 activated.

Also, the remote they sent out was the older style rectangular one and it wouldn't work out of the line of sight. I called DTV and they said I need to the smaller slim remote and I needed to pay them $15 for it. I grumbled but paid the $, got the remote and it still would work out of the line of sight. I called DVT again and they said the first remote would work fine, you just have to change the setting to RF. They refunded my $15, but still, the amount of time I have wasted with these dipsticks they have working there pisses me off....
