Looking for some guidance. Boat is a 2003 290 Amberjack, dual 350s. Boat came with the Smartcraft System View, but I recently purchased the 403 VesselView to replace the old (fried) System View.

The mechanic got it hooked up and it's working, but I don't think it's connected properly. The old module had two input ports (one for each engine's gauges??), but this one only has one input port. There is a junction box behind the dash (labelled "junction box" - see photos), and it looks like there are two input ports on the junction box and two output ports on it. The problem/question is, how do we hook up the analogue gauges so that they also function, in addition to them working on the new 403 Vessel View? Right now, both plugs coming off the analogue gauges are not plugged into anything - what/where do they get plugged in??? Photos below show the junction box behind the dash where the 403 gets mounted. Can someone please help tell me what the two plugs on the top of the junction box go to, as well as the two plugs going out from the bottom of that junction box go to?

In short, can I swap out the newer 403 VesselView for the older SystemView using the old junction box that was behind the dash, and still have the analogue gauges work as well as the gauges for both engines being visible on the new 403? Thanks.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Not sure I'm totally following, but ....

You should be able to hook up the new VV by running a new line to the junction box. Except yours is full so you would need a 6-port if your 4-banger is already full.

When I went to add VV mobile, I ran into the same thing except I had a 6-port junction box that was full. So I upgraded to an 8. I still have the 6, so if you end up needing it let me know -- it's yours.

Great, thank you very much, Phil - I appreciate the help.

Interesting - there should be two J-boxes; one for each engine. The VV harness should interface with the Starboard J-Box and there should be a Wake harness between the two J-boxes.

Interesting indeed. Thank you for these diagrams, ttmott. I appreciate it. I'll take these diagrams w/ me Wednesday when I get back up into it.

Much appreciated,

Assuming you have (or get) the wiring sorted out, look for the "Easylink" settings on the 403, usually a checkbox but not sure on the 403. Easylink needs to be enabled for the gauges to work alongside the 403 displays.

Sure will, thank you again - a lot of information to help me already - much appreciated, all

This may also be one of those cases where you have to leave the system view connected along with the 403 but tucked away somewhere in order to keep the gauges working.

Very interesting - never considered that, but I'll look into it. Thanks, guys
