The boat was absolutely covered with 2 weeks worth of pollen. The key word here is "was".

Do you use something specifically marketed at "boat soap"...or can you use any soap that produces a thick lather?

I use "Boat & aircraft soap" myself. A detergent soap will strip wax.

I use a boat soap. Not because I'm sold on its value vs a car soap but...

1.) I buy car soap by the gallon - At the dock storage space is a consideration and a smaller quart of boat soap lasts a year.
2.) "100% fish & wildlife friendly" - I don't know if car soap is or not but hey if I pay an extra 25 cents per wash, so be it.

I do use Simple Green on any tough spider stains. I try to use it sparingly on waxed surfaces and always wash the areas again with soap.

I like shiny boats.

Soft Scrub w/ Bleach on non-skids, Gunnels, and Foredeck. A good idea or a big no-no?
