Ok, Dats funny. What a Knothead that seller is. The bad compression is clear indication the engine has given up the ghost. How will he sell? Well, here is a scenario I ran into with my last sell. I was selling a 2002 Rinker 342 here in the Northwest in mid 2020 (recall, right at the start of the Pandemic the craziness in the market?). I would say 1/2 the prospective buyers were new to boating and had no clue. What they had was money to burn. Because they had no clue but lots of money (and I mean no knowledge of surveying or even insurance or mechanicals) and, boats were being bought out from under them, 80% were throwing money down with no requirements (they think its like buying a car I suppose, not a big deal to repair). In my case, I had put two new Bravo IIIs on to sell but that didnt really make an impact to the buyer (wish I hadnt in hindsight because most buyers werent aware of the value of that). Add to that, the craziness drew in some rather questionable surveyors, and its not hard to understand any of the craziness. In my case, the buyer was a 30-something at facebook (ie lots of money on hand). Had an idea about mechanics but certainly was not adept at understanding various systems. They were lucky with me as I had everything in good condition for them. I suppose that craziness continued through 2021 and is just now starting to slow down. I am kinda looking forward to maybe getting a good deal on a larger DA that one of these neophytes wants to unload because of the "Boy, I didnt understand what the management and costs were to own a boat, I cant wait to sell".the owner deemed the knocking noise normal
