Hello, all of you left coasters!

With fuel on the rise again, here in western Oregon, we have decided to move the boat to the coast and put her in a secure storage. This way we can just drive over, launch, and have our fun. Why not a slip? I've seen the build up on the bottoms after just two weeks in the bay. So bad, drives needed to be completely stripped and resurfaced. Plus the docks are not that secured around the bay.

So making the drive over to Yaquina Bay, Newport on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. The mile from the dry storage to the ramp will be a huge savings over there and back each trip. Plus we can buy fuel off the water instead of the inflated price at the dock. $5.36 here at the house for clear fuel, verses the $7.xx on the dock. Hell, 100NL at the airport is less than that.

Any other members from Newport or have their boats there?

John

Boy, @JHornsby3, I hear you. The oil companies constantly tell us all that it’s a matter of supply and demand, but they have all had record profits the past year (or decade, hell, maybe even century). There’s
lots of ways to enjoy boating, hope this works out for you. If you run her much, there’s gonna be a lot of $ saved…..

Between the fuel and dad's health, not much running. But I forced my father to get out of the house and go on a charter boat, fishing. Now he wants more Lingcod and Dungeness crab. Plus he is currently wanting some fresh Albacore off the smoker. So it makes sense to keep it a mile from the launch than 75 miles one way. Plus a slip is only $35 a night verses the $150 a night for a cheap "No Tell Motel" on the Oregon coast.

Plus I can make his doctors at the VA happy by getting him out of his LaZboy chair and in the fresh air.

Good clamming on the south side of the bay off of SE 35th street.

Easier to just buy them. I think, I'm the only one in the house that will eat them.

When are you coming out to go do some fishing?

So, driving through the coastal towns on a Friday at noon is a great and fun experience. I, highly, recommend it. For some reason, those with high dollar vehicles think those flashing lights and "oversized load" signs don't apply to them. Even more so when the lanes are right at 9" wide. Depoe Bay was a mad house with whale watchers. So learning from the larger Lincoln City, I chose the "put her down the middle" method. Took up both lanes like I was the start of the parade. With the horn honking from the Porche Cheyene behind me, those whale watcher's were watching this whale.

I had surge break issues last summer. So this trip I was a little nervus if iit would even work. I got over the first grade, started down the other side. Got back up to 55 and coming to the first corner on the down hill, applied the brakes and "BAM" the actuator applied braking. My wife looked over at me and asked if everything was ok. "Sure, baby. Just the brakes doing their thing".

When I bring it home this winter, I'm leaving the coast as early as I can. I knew those roads were narrow, but didn't think they were that narrow. And anybody, reading this, moves their "wide Load" through Newport, on 101. The utility poles are leaning over the road. Watch those poles.

Now to figure out why my port drive won't trim up or down after the trip. I hope it's just a connection loose or the fuse has popped.

Page isn't allowing photos for some reason.

Ok, so photos need to be resized. From 11mbs to less than 2mbs in size.

Here is the photos from my 25 mile stop to check hubs, tires and straps. Since the boat is port side heavy with galley and head on that side, I need to do something different as it rotated on the trailer by about 4". Something I need to look into.
