Holy moly. I’m about 15 minutes from my slip and get annoyed when I get a slow driver that extends that to 20.4 hours away for me. I really don’t mind it at all. When your job is in a landlocked area you do what you have to.
Right now I’m in a constant state of low-level panic because my boat’s wintering in Charleston - a 12 hour drive.

This is exactly what my marina does. If I'm going to be away I am happy to let the marina office know my slip is available. I get the revenue of about $145 per night and the marina gets a small service fee. We boat out of a very desirable tourist area. We do a lot of cruising in summer. I get a big fat check in the mail within 2 days of returning. Not bad!Personally I always felt is should be a partnership between the slip holder and the marina. If I rent for the entire year/season then they should give me the option to list and sublet my slip while I am away. The marina would then act as dockmaster and collect the fees, check insurance and apply a credit of a predetermined percentage to my account. This works for both parties involved.

No... there is a really expensive hardware store right up the road that I am on a first name basis with .... it just adds to the on boat tool kitI am seriously impressed with the distance some of you drive. Really, no joke, you guys are hardcore boaters. I just don’t know how you deal with maintenance. There are days I have run home 3 times in 1 morning cause I needed a tool I forgot or didn’t think I needed. I guess you real good at planning ahead.
Years ago we lived in Allentown and kept the boat at Skipjack... the drive was not really that far but the traffic was horrible... rush hour both ways on the weekend near philly was a nightmareI am beginning to understand why we see so many people from PA,NJ, even NY at the marina. Met a couple this summer who drive 3 hours one way to their boat on my pier.
Around Eastern Mass many drive 1-3 hours every weekend to there cottages in NH, Maine, Vt or down on Cape Cod. What's the difference? I know some people that drive 1-2 hrs to work each way every day.
