I want to replace the stock TV (2002) with a larger flat screen. Do I need to by a marine grade TV?

I do not know anyone who buys a "marine grade" TV. I did recently learn that a TV with a transformer box can be hooked up directly to 12v if the box is by passed. This is for smaller TV's.

Yeah, I would not bother trying to get a "marine grade" TV just go with a normal everyday TV. I will be buying one for my boat in the next couple of weeks and there are quite a few around that already run off 12 VDC. Some like the one I have at home which is TEAC also has a built in DVD player and the whole lot can run off 12 VDC.

Thanks. I was planning on buying an inverter which should allow me to use the TV (watch videos) on the house batteries.
