There's a vicious rumor going around that the infamous, and long absent, Masterfab and Admiral may have purchased a new boat. At this point, it's just a rumor - no verification via photographic evidence has surfaced. If you have any knowledge concerning this, please contact your local authorities.

Thanks Todd. Yes, we are both well, and we hope to see the usual suspects again soon.

Apparently, I have to post a pic of the new ride, or it "didn't happen". So, here it is.

I was caught in a rip current......

Won't say welcome back as I don't think you ever left, but can't wait to see the next project! Oh and hopefully some future raft ups!

At this point I’m questioning whether the internet or my iPad is even real, let alone this thread or alleged new boat.

Congratulations!

:D

There are more pics, ofc. We've been looking for just the right boat for quite some time, and after looking at more than I care to remember, we finally realized Sea Ray, unfortunately, just didn't make the boat that was the right set of compromises for us. We wanted something in the 50 - 56 foot range, with a mid ship master, forward VIP, and sufficient engine room space for me to work comfortably now that I have a replacement knee. The SR 500, 510, 52, and 540/550 Sundancers just didn't "check all the boxes" for us. The 500/510/52 all have forward master staterooms, and bunks for guests, while the 540 and 550 aren't full beam, have beds that are a bit small for me, and lack sufficient ER space.
As we were conducting our search, we just kept coming back to the only large express cruisers that fit the bill - the Cruisers Yachts 500/520 (same boat), or the slightly larger 5370/5470/540/560 (also all the same boat essentially), all from the mid 2000s. We were leaning towards the larger one, but our local marinas couldn't haul that one. So, we settled on the 500/520 as our ideal boat.
They have the full beam master, forward VIP, and a walk-in engine room, along with a hardtop and a host of other features that are right for the admiral and I. Power comes from a pair of 715 hp Volvo D12s coupled to V-drives.
Hopefully, even though we're not in a SR any longer, you guys won't mind if I continue to intrude on the CSR forum. Honestly it's the only boating forum I'm a member of, and feel a part of. So, we're back, just not in a Sea Ray at the moment.

Looks great! Even though we love our 44, we've been doing similar shopping, with a similar shopping list (with the addition of avoiding pods, if possible) and I hadn't considered this model.

I keep coming back to the Tiara 50 Coupe, but the price tag is so damn steep. The Prestige 500S looks.good too, but there are a number of things about how it is put together that I'm not sure about.

Congrats and thanks for the tip! I look forward to seeing your posts.

Lovely boat! A friend just picked up a 520 and is thrilled with it. Amazing how quick it'll go for how much it weighs...

We know you're going to redo the whole boat from below the waterline up. Please keep us apprised of the first big project!
