I admit the blowing the generator is a rookie move; I have no problem slow cruising for a few months. PlayDate makes sense; I am looking for two already rebuilt engines and will buy them, store them until I get a spot at the boatyard, and get on the hard. I'll get a small portable generator, for now, to keep things power while overnighting. I've talked to boaters in the marina that were here when the other owner was here, and they said he was out on it all the time. In 2015 he put two rebuilt aftermarket motors in and had used the boat almost every weekend. In 2019 he slowed way down but still took it out a few times. When I bought it, the oil looked like it hadn’t been changed in a few years, heavy soot on top of both filters. I am hoping that slow cruising and monthly engine flushing/ oil changes might clean the motor. I’ll probably use the starboard engine more once out of the marina. Thanks for all the advice; I will keep posting results of what is transpiring; maybe it will help someone else with similar issues.
