Hi,
I recently bought a 2006 DB52 and have a question about the AV system. Below the Glomex antenna gain control there is a panel mounted module which has a red LED display that displays the number "14". On the module there is a x3 dip switch, and what appears to be the ability to select a channel using small push buttons. The previous owner said that he never touched it.
Please reference the attached picture - does anyone know what this is for?

Thank you in advance,
Ralph

It looks like it could be some form of Channel Modulator.

Yup, modulator. That shows that your Sat system is being modulated to analog channel 14 on the coax system running to the boat's televisions. Depending upon your area's Over the Air channels set that number to an unused channel. You will find also a confusing array of splitters and injectors also.
The picture quality is poor to say the least. Many of us have gotten rid of the modulation and have routed HDMI cabling for the Sat feed to the boat's televisions.

As a point of information here is how I did it; there are other variations just as good others have executed also.

Hello. Do you gentlemen (or anyone else for that matter) know if the channel modulator is adjustable so that a separate signal goes from the satellite to the second receiver? I have a receiver each in the salon and the master stateroom yet the stateroom TV only sees the data flowing thru the first receiver. I just bought this boat and prior owner never once turned on the satellite system (hell, he never used the autopilot which was not connected nor realized the fuel transfer switch was backwards). Any advice is appreciated

No a modulator is not used to for that. You would be looking for the LNB signal. Which depending on the sat system you have would tell how the LNB signal can be distributed. For instance on mine I have dual LNB out from the sat, one going directly to each receiver.

I too supposedly have dual outputs from the satellite antenna but there is a channel modulator at the bottom of the electronics panel that shows "14" and the TV in the salon receive an admittedly low quality signal from the satellite when set on air channel 14. The problem is that the stateroom TV gets the same signal again on Channel 14. Will need to investigate. Thanks for your time.
